What we get is a solid and quick detective story set in a world where cops can use a technology called Snapshot to re-experience a specific day in order to try to solve crimes. This is a case of Sanderson exploring a genre in which he doesn’t normally write, and then adding his fantastical spin to it. Snapshot is a fairly new (February), standalone novella by Brandon Sanderson. MGM have announced the film rights of the novella. The characters are great, and the action is sporadic, playing a backseat to the general thrill of the story. Snapshot is short, focused, and stably-paced.
